Hello neighbors, We have added a simple new page to the Hamilton Place website called **Community Events**. It is an easy way to share and join neighborhood get-togethers: yard sales, game nights, potlucks, block parties, a workday at the front entrance, anything you would like to invite folks to. Here is what you can do with it. **Find it** Sign in to the website like you always do. On the left side, click **Events**. You will see what is coming up, soonest first. **Post your own event** Click the blue **Create an event** button. Fill in a few simple things: what it is, the day and time, and where. You can add a photo, a short description, and a list of things you would like people to bring. Then click **Post event**. That is all it takes. When you post an event, we send the whole neighborhood one email so everyone knows about it. That happens just once. We do **not** send it right away, though: we wait a little while first (about half an hour) so you have time to fix a typo or change a detail, with nobody bothered. After that short wait, that one notice goes out on its own. If you cannot wait, there is a **Send it now** button on your event. And if you change your mind, you can delete the event during that wait and no one will have been emailed. After that first notice, we do not keep emailing the whole neighborhood about your event. **What to share here** This page is for the kind of get-togethers our neighborhood has always shared: block parties, potlucks, yard sales, game nights, a workday at the front entrance, and the like. It is also a wonderful place for events that invite neighbors to support our wider community, the way folks have long used our email list to spread the word about something like a fundraiser for a local school. Those are always welcome here. We do ask one small thing. Please keep this for genuine neighborhood and community get-togethers, not for events that are really about personal or commercial gain, like a "fun night" that turns out to be a sales party. We are not setting any hard rules and we are not going to police it. We only ask that you post with good intentions and a little thought for your neighbors, so this stays a friendly and useful place for everyone. **Let them know you are coming** On any event, click **I'm going**. If you are bringing other people with you, you can say how many. Changed your plans? Just click **Can't make it**. The host can see how many people are coming. **Add it to your calendar** Click **Add to calendar** and pick Google, Outlook, or Apple. The event will be saved to your own calendar so you do not forget. **Get directions** Click **Get directions** and your phone or computer will open a map with the way there. **Sign up to bring something** If the host made a list (chairs, a dessert, drinks), you can claim an item by clicking **I'll bring this**. That way nobody brings the same thing twice. Changed your mind? Click **I'm not bringing this** and it opens back up for someone else. **Get a friendly reminder** When you set up an event, you can ask us to send reminder emails (for example, one day before). These go only to the people who signed up for your event, not the whole neighborhood. It is a gentle nudge so the folks who are coming do not forget. **Your privacy comes first** Every event here is private to our neighborhood. Only neighbors who are signed in can see an event, its full address, and who is coming. Nothing is ever shown to the public or to anyone outside Hamilton Place. If you are planning something you would like the whole town to hear about, a site made for getting the word out widely, like Facebook or Eventbrite, is the better tool for that. This page is just for us and the folks right around you. **Turning event emails on or off** You are in control of what lands in your inbox. Go to **My Account** and look for **Event emails**. You can turn them off completely there. Or, on any single event you signed up for, you can choose **Mute emails for this event** and still stay on the list. Hosts always get the email for their own event so they can keep things running. We hope this makes it easier to get together with the people right around you. Give it a try and post something.
